Golden Milk

Turmeric contains a naturally occurring phytochemical called curcumin, that has anti-inflammatory properties. Its potential role in preventing and treating chronic disease states has been extensively researched. Chronic inflammation has been shown to initiate and promote many diseased states, including obesity; diabetes; cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, and inflammatory bowel diseases; and certain types of cancers. This deliciously warming milk may inhibit the inflammatory process, and thus, inflammatory diseases, and also supports digestion, and immune and liver function.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup full fat coconut milk (or milk of choice)

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon, plus extra for serving

  • Tiny piece ginger, grated

  • Pinch ground black pepper

  • Pinch cayenne pepper (optional)

  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup (or 5 drops Stevia)

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients to a saucepan (except Stevia, if using) and whisk to combine

  2. Heat over low-medium heat until mixture starts to bubble, then turn heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes

  3. Remove from heat, add Stevia if using, and top with cinnamon
